Heatwave and Wildfire Risk: Is Your Organisation Prepared?
With temperatures soaring across the UK and Europe, wildfire risk is rising. Prolonged periods of hot, dry weather are creating the conditions for grass fires and wildfires to start more easily and spread more quickly.
What happens if a fire starts on your site?
Fire Fogging units onsite, give peace of mind for landowners, estates, contractors, local authorities and facilities teams.
The challenge is often not spotting a fire. It’s responding quickly enough to contain it before it spreads.
Grassland, estates, roadside verges, parks, construction sites, industrial facilities and agricultural land can all be vulnerable during periods of extreme heat.
A small grass fire can become a major incident in minutes when dry vegetation, heat and wind combine.
How Can You Respond to a Wildfire Quickly?
Speed matters.
The earlier a fire is tackled, the greater the chance of preventing significant damage.
For many organisations, relying solely on external emergency services may not always be enough. Remote locations, restricted access and rapidly changing fire conditions can all increase response times.
Having suitable fire suppression equipment available on-site can provide a critical first line of defence while emergency services are mobilised.
What Is Fire Fogging and How Does It Work?
Unlike traditional high-volume water delivery systems, fire fogging works by producing extremely fine water droplets, across a wider spread.
These microscopic droplets absorb heat quickly and efficiently, helping to lower temperatures and suppress flames while using significantly less water.
The benefits include:
✅ Fast heat reduction
✅ Efficient water use
✅ Enhanced cooling performance
✅ Improved coverage across difficult terrain
✅ Reduced water wastage
This makes fire fogging particularly effective where water supplies may be limited, where access is challenging or where a broader area of coverage is needed for that essential first response.
Demon Fire Fogging Equipment Helps Protect Estates, Construction Sites and Public Spaces
The right equipment depends on the environment and level of risk.
For organisations responsible for:
- Estates and country parks
- Forestry and woodland
- Construction and infrastructure projects
- Highway maintenance
- Agricultural land
- Public open spaces
A mobile fire suppression solution can provide valuable support during periods of elevated wildfire risk.
Demon Fire Fogging Units used by Professional Fire Fighters
Demon’s Fire Fogging systems are designed to deliver rapid deployment and efficient fire suppression, helping operators tackle incidents quickly and effectively.
Customers already benefiting from the Demon Fire fogging unit include, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue, Dartmoor National Park, Atholl Estate and Highland Offroad.
The self-contained Demon Fire Fogging unit provides dedicated fire fogging equipment to its user, this includes up to 50 metres of hose, varying lance options, an engine & pump and a water tank.
The fire fogging pressure washer unit can be designed to be permanently fixed onto vehicles or trailers, or movable from one carrier to another. This design gives total flexibility and a variety of water capacities.
- Lance options such as, foaming lance or twin lance (switch from chemical to water)
- Choice of water tank size and capacity 250L | 350L | 500L
- Choice of Petrol, Diesel or Battery Powered engine
Can Fire Fogging Units Reach Difficult Areas?
One of the biggest challenges during a wildfire is access.
Fires rarely start in convenient locations.
They often occur in areas where traditional firefighting equipment struggles to reach, including:
- Dense vegetation
- Woodland tracks
- Slopes and embankments
- Remote estate land
- Infrastructure corridors
Fire fogging systems provide operators with the ability to project fine water mist into challenging environments, helping to cool and suppress fires in areas that may otherwise be difficult to access.
How Should Businesses Prepare for Increased Wildfire Risk?
Preparation starts before the fire does.
Consider:
- Reviewing fire risk assessments
- Checking emergency response procedures
- Ensuring water supplies are available
- Assessing access routes across your site
- Reviewing available fire suppression equipment
- Training staff in emergency response procedures
The cost of preparation is always lower than the cost of recovery.
How Demon Fire Fogging Units Work
Each fire fogging unit is completely self-contained. We build a robust frame with a tank, engine, pump and hose reel all fitted neatly within the unit. Everything you need is onboard – just mount it on a pickup, trailer, ATV (all terrain vehicle) or UTV (utility terrain vehicle) and you’re ready to respond.
The turbo lance sprays water in a cone shape, to give greater fire coverage. The water pressure can also be reduced to create a misting effect to dampen the fire, using less water.
The system includes:
- Up to 50m hose for flexible reach
- Optional foaming lance or a twin lance (allows switching between chemical use and water).
- Optional AFFF tank (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) for flammable solids and liquids
This portable design makes the Demon Fire Fogging Units a versatile and effective choice for first response, whether you’re tackling a wildfire in remote terrain or a machinery fire on site.
Which Pressure Washer Units Are Used for Fires
Demon Fire Fogging Pressure Washer is available with 3 water tank size options.
- 250L – compact and ultra-portable for short initial interventions.
- 350L – mid capacity.
- 500L – for maximum runtime away from water sources.
Why are Fire Fogging Units Used?
Fire Fogging pressure washers are used for:
- Fast first response: knock back flames before they spread while waiting for the main appliance.
- Remote Hard to reach locations: It can be mounted on all terrain vehicles, as an excellent option for where a 4×4, ATV or trailer can access quicker than a full fire engine.
- Flexible setup: Portable, modular design fits into vehicles and trailers; customisable tank sizes (250L, 350L, 500L).
Common places we see these units used are:
- Grassland, heathland and moorland fires – ideal for wildfire “first attack.”
- Gorse burning control – nearby to give peace of mind
- Vehicle, plant and machinery fires – on estates, quarries, farms and industrial sites.
