There is a straight cost issue when deciding whether to go for a petrol or diesel pressure washer. Diesel powered will last longer than a petrol driven pressure washer but petrol is cheaper. A diesel engine will use 10% to 20% less fuel to achieve the same work, then there is little cost difference to pay back the increased price of the diesel pressure washer.
However, if you buy your fuel from a fuel distributor and get agricultural diesel, it only costs about 25% of the cost of road fuel. When you use red diesel and you use your pressure washer for 50 litres worth, or four hours per day, five days per week, for 48 weeks of the year, then your savings will be approximately £1500, at February 03 fuel prices.
The amount saved is more than the difference of the purchase price in the first place. If you only use your pressure washer for one or two hours per week, the added cost of investing in diesel power, would not provide enough savings, to pay back the added cost of the investment.
