So why are you selling fuel tanks?
Since the Government brought in the Registered Dealers in Controlled Oil scheme which we are unwilling to join, as it further adds to our costs, small amounts of Kerosene which we used to sell until this scheme would become too expensive and time consuming to administer and detract from promoting the benefits of Kerosene.
What is the RDCO scheme? Registered Dealers in Controlled Oil (RDCO) is a scheme whereby anyone selling or dealing, or intending to sell or deal in controlled oil will need to obtain approval to do so.
Why was it introduced? Fuel that is intended for an eligible non-road traffic use eg in farm tractors, or for use in industrial and domestic heating systems, qualifies for a lower level of excise duty. The level of fraud involving these fuels had reached such a level that warranted further measures being introduced to protect Government revenue and legitimate trade.
How does the scheme work? Distributors of rebated fuels are required to obtain approval prior to trading in rebated fuels and they must operate within the scope of their approval, eg they should only receive and store controlled oil at their premises. They are also required to obtain some additional information from their customers in order to check their eligibility to receive rebated oils. Customers will have to provide a small amount of additional information to their suppliers.
Who does it affect? The scheme is for anyone who sells or deals in controlled oils including: " places of production - refiner's warehouses " import warehouses who mark oil on import " main and secondary distributors (including dry brokers who do not take physical possession of the oil) " distributors who supply commercial and domestic end users.
The scheme does not apply to agents (including co-operatives) who arrange a supply of controlled oil on behalf of someone else (a principal) where: " the supplier of the oil has accepted that the customer is the end-user " the controlled oil is delivered direct from the RDCO to the person or end-user on whose behalf you are acting " the invoice issued by the RDCO is addressed to the person or end-user on whose behalf you are acting. Unless you meet all these criteria, you will need to apply for approval as a RDCO. This is because the supplier of the oil will not be aware of who the customer is (ie the agent or the end-user) in order to undertake the relevant checks on their eligibility.
What are controlled oils? Controlled oils are marked rebated gas oil (red diesel) and marked rebated kerosene (paraffin, burning oil etc).
Conclusion:
If you want to benefit from lower repair and servicing costs burn Kerosene.
Buy our bunded tank and fill it with 1000 litres of Kerosene to get the best price from your oil dealer. It comes with a pump and a counter so you can record and control its use. The bunded option ensures that the tank will never leak onto the floor or down the drain.
If you insist on burning Red Diesel you should store it in one of our tanks anyway and as it is the same price as Kerosene so what are you gaining?
